Ever since I've made the site I've wanted to have a blog functionality and now that I've finally managed to complete it I guess I should make a damn blog post.

Site upgrade

I have been working on upgrading this site for probably half a year now. Features that I wanted to have or that have been requested and I though were good ideas were:

• A blog
• Comments
• RSS
• Generally better maintainability

What happened was that due to being fucking autistic, I accidentally started writing something that was basically a whole ass PHP framework. A while ago after a few months break I looked at my project again and thought that it was fucking stupid. I scrapped the whole thing and just decided to use a template engine and wrote the site in a week.

The result is not the greatest thing ever made, PHP spaghetti scrap but it is way better than what I had before so I'm happy with it for now. Later on I'm planning to update the character bios section and turn it into more of a wiki type thingy. I also want to have a gallery for my other art but I'm also considering just posting them into the blog. Perhaps the blog could have some tag system to help with that?

Future of the comic

Last year I struggled a lot with mental health issues, work and relationship problems which drained me to the extent that I couldn't really draw at all. Things are better now and I've been making progress with the next chapter.

Earlier I did have some ideas where I wanted the plot of the comic to go but no proper plan. Originally I wanted the comic to be a bit more slice of life with the main plot being slowly introduced but because I basically came up with what happens in each chapter as I was drawing it and I was too excited about the main plot I kinda feel like I progressed too far into it way faster than I would have wanted.

Because of that I have now written a plot outline for a comic with a total of 20 full chapters (the ones I've already drawn included) to keep the pacing somewhat sensible. Now the main characters are wanted ~~terrorists~~ gallant resistance fighters who have to be in hiding it's harder to go back into chill slice of life stuff. But that's just a thing that sometimes happens so we will roll with it. No deus ex machinas to get the girls out of the pickle they've gotten themselves into. Still in addition to the full chapters I've planned a bunch of shorter slice of life and romance chapters to throw in between the story chapters.

After the comic is complete I'll probably move to some other comic projects which might include a sequel/spin off of this one, a more serious cyberpunk comic or something entirely different. But before that there's still a long way of this comic to go but I hope I can avoid more stupid hiatuses. Another thing I've been dreaming about is possibly having a small physical release of the comic when it is complete.

To finish up this post I would like to say that the feedback I've gotten from the few people that have read my comic has been absolutely astonishing to me. It truly means a lot to me and warms my heart. If I can make art that even a couple of people enjoy I consider it a great success. Thanks!
